We field teams from Under 8 through to senior men's and women's in the BMBA domestic competition. Live fixtures, results and ladders are on PlayHQ.

We deliberately don't copy the draw onto this site. A stale fixture is worse than no fixture — PlayHQ is always right, and it tells you which of the two venues you're at.
When each grade plays
Which night is ours?
The BMBA runs the domestic competition across three days. These are the association's scheduled days for each grade — your exact tip-off time comes from the PlayHQ fixture each round.

Two seasons a year
Summer runs across school Terms 4 and 1. Winter runs across Terms 2 and 3. You can play one or both — plenty of families do a season, take a break, and come back.
Training is set by your coach
Junior teams generally train one weeknight a week at MARC Stadium or the Lion's Den. Your coach or team manager will confirm the night and time once teams are announced.

Get in touch first
New players enquire and we allocate them to a team, or to the waiting list if the grade is full. Returning players renew on PlayHQ.
Teams are graded
The club places players into teams and the association grades those teams into divisions, so your child plays against others at a similar level.

Your team, coach and training night go out by email and on Facebook before round one. Every registered player gets a team.
Grading is about giving children competitive games, not ranking them. A player in a lower division who has close games all season has a far better time than one who loses by forty every week — and improves faster.
Representative basketball
Rep is a Lions thing, not a Panthers thing
This confuses almost every new family, so it's worth being clear.
You play domestic basketball for the Panthers — one of four clubs in the association, alongside Lightning, Magic and Saints.
Representative basketball is run by the association itself. Selected players represent Bacchus Marsh as a Lion, in the VJBL (Victorian Junior Basketball League) and CBL (Country Basketball League), against clubs across Victoria.
So a Panthers junior who makes a rep squad wears Lions colours mid-week and Panthers colours on Saturday. Most rep players keep playing domestic for us as well.
Tryouts, squads, uniforms and fees for rep are all handled by the BMBA, not by the club.

Referees
Whistle before you're sixteen
The association runs a Yellow Shirt Program for new referees, and the club is proud of members who go on to officiate locally and at representative level.
It's a genuinely good first job for a teenager: paid, close to home, and it makes them a smarter player. Most of our referees are teenagers, which is exactly why the codes of conduct around refereeing matter so much.

A word to parents
Many of the officials you'll see are fourteen or fifteen and only a few weeks into the job. Associations lose referees to sideline abuse every season, and when referees go, games get cancelled. Giving them room to learn is what keeps the competition running.
This is what Respect The Game exists to address — a movement the club supports.
